and then again…

maybe we were all just a bunch of brazen mothertruckers–
pinche hueros, thoughtlessly selfish and set in our ways.

Let us marvel at the waves
and think not of the tragedy that befalls our neighbors to the west.
We are separated by a great sea
and the ripples that reach us cannot change our course.

We were ignorant and cocksure, tho we grew uncertain
as the reports hailed nuclear clouds a’drifting.
And again we sensed the great tribe of one tethering us all together.
We’re in this all together.

Let us marvel at the waves
and think well of all our brothers and sisters.
Tho we may be separated by a great sea,
the ripples that reach us may change our course to action.
